A more complete understanding of the views and teachings about society that arose in the period of Ancient Greece is possible in the context of looking at the socio-historical conditions that allowed critical thought to come to the fore even then. Greek civilization arose much later than those of the Near and Far East. The period that is taken as particularly significant in Greek social thought is from the 5th century BC, regardless of the fact that the famous Mycenaean civilization existed several centuries earlier.Downloads
